Capstone Legacy Data Extractions
The first step to a successful migration or an archive is a successful data extraction effort from the legacy system. In the current converging market many smaller, community hospitals are becoming part of larger healthcare delivery systems. The larger sites are converting many of the community hospital IT systems such as HMS, CPSI, Healthland, Meditech Magic, Keane, McKesson and Siemens to their broader based IT systems. Many of these old systems have proprietary old design concepts that don’t allow for easy extraction of data. How this is accomplished can vary widely. They include:
1. Utilize your own programming staff
2. Utilize the legacy vendors programming staff and efforts (not preferred)
3. Utilize an outside programming effort
4. Utilize standard report writer capability to accumulate necessary data
5. Utilize screen scraping technology
